Obituary of Demetrios Krinos
Demetrios Krinos, a distinguished Psychiatrist, passed away at his home, with his wife and daughter by his side, on Sunday afternoon, October 26, 2014. He was 74 years old.
Demetrios was born in Lamia, Greece. He was the son of the late Fotios and Maria Krinos. He attended Medical School in Athens, Greece and then came to the United States where he would begin his very distinguished career specializing in Psychiatry. He completed an Internship in Fall River, MA, followed by a Residency program in Psychiatry at Worcester State Hospital. He then worked as the Director of Psychiatry at Norwich State Hospital in Norwich CT. He was honored to be accepted and receive a fellowship specializing in Liaison Psychiatry at Boston University where he then became an Assistant Professor. Demetrios and his family then moved to New York where he was an Assistant Professor at New York Medical College and also worked as the Director of Psychiatry at Lincoln Hospital, NY. He then later opened a private practice in Manchester, NH. After his retirement he and his wife moved to Burlington to be closer to their daughter Corinna who was studying at Harvard Medical School. He had lived in Burlington for the past ten years.
Demetrios had many hobbies and interests. He loved classical music and enjoyed going to concerts at Symphony Hall in Boston. He was an avid reader of books on literature. He loved taking trips to the Museum of Fine Arts and watching their foreign movie collections. Demetrios enjoyed dining at fine restaurants with family and friends. He was blessed to have two beautiful granddaughters that he lived with and was able to spend time with daily. He will be remembered as an outgoing, loving and generous husband, father, and grandfather (Papouli).
Demetrios was the beloved husband of Litsa (Rizomarcos). Loving father of Corinna Fiorotti. Brother of Julie Stavridis of Greece. A visiting hour will be held at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn on Friday, October 31 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. concluding with Funeral Services at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow at Pine Haven Cemetery, Bedford Street in Burlington.
