Obituary of Charles Radosta
Charles C. Radosta, retired owner of Carlo’s Town & Country Coiffures, passed away at the Winchester Nursing Center on Wednesday morning, November 12, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Rose (Frisiello) he was 92 years old. Charles was the beloved husband of the late Mary Rose (Frisiello). He was the loving father of Mark Radosta & his wife Alexis of Grafton, Jean Radosta of Acton and Lisa Surette & her husband Brian of Medford. Brother of Peter Radosta of Woburn and the late Jean Drinkwater. Proud grandfather of Matthew Radosta of Grafton and Gregory, Christopher & Caroline Surette of Medford.
Charles was born in East Boston on September 17,1922. He was raised and educated in Everett and was a 1940 graduate of Everett High School where he met the love of life, Mary Rose Frisiello. They were together for more than 65 years, and were married for 58 years until Mary passed away in 2003.
He was the son of the late Charles Radosta and Josephine (Grillo) Radosta. Charles, Jr. had a great interest in music especially of the Big Swing Bands of 1930s and 1940s. As a child he began playing the trumpet. At the age of 9 years old he became the youngest member ever of the Roma Band which played at the Italian feasts in the North End of Boston which was considered a great honor. By the age of 15years he was already playing professionally in the Big Swing Bands around Boston even though he became deaf in one ear at the age of 12 due to an accident. After he graduated from high school he attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston until he was asked to join a more sophisticated dance band at the beginning of World War II when was just 19. They toured all over the country performing in the popular ballroom venues of the day. Charles joined the USO to share his love of music with the troops throughout the United States. He performed with some truly amazing singers, bands and other entertainers. Charles continued his love of playing music in Big Bands into his 70s. He was also a member of the Danversport Yacht Club Band for 15 years. During this time he also played extensively for weddings and other special events on his own throughout the North Shore and Boston. At the age of 70 he formed The Chick Radd Express Band which played summer concerts throughout the Woburn and Everett areas for several years.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be private
