Obituary of Anthony Modica

Anthony J. Modica of Burlington passed away Sunday afternoon, November 30, 2014 at Woodbriar Nursing Home in Wilmington surrounded by his family. He was 87 years old. Anthony was the beloved husband of the late Edna Modica. They were married for 63 years. He was born in Boston and was the son of the late Joseph and Carmela Modica. Anthony worked at Raytheon Co. for many years. After retiring he opened a coin business, and later got his real estate license and worked for Vidoli & Associates. He loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. He was an active member of the Sons of Italy. Anthony grew up during the depression and always appreciated what he had. He will be sorely missed by his family. Anthony was predeceased by his infant son, Michael Anthony Modica and his sister, the late Betty Caggiano. He leaves behind his daughters, Linda Black & husband, Phillip of Chelmsford, MA; Lori Calicchio & husband, Joseph of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and his son, Harold Modica & wife, Linda of Townsend, MA. He was the loving grandfather of Erika Creutz, Adam Black, Kristen, Kelly and Joey Calicchio; Eric and Steve Modica; and the great-grandfather of James & Ingrid May Creutz and Adria Rose Calicchio. He also leaves behind his older brother Joseph Modica, his younger brother Richard Modica & wife Bonnie, and his sister-in-law Carol Cleaves. A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 11-12:30 PM. Concluding with Funeral Services at 12:30 PM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Anthony’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association MA chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
