Obituary of Kenneth Oakley

Kenneth N. Oakley, a man who loved nature, passed away at the Winchester Hospital on November 16, 2014. He was 78 years old. Ken was born in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was the son of the late Kenneth H. and Adeline Oakley. Ken was raised in New York and MA. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. During his service he served time in both Alaska and Japan. He married his wife Miriam in 1966 and they moved to Woburn in 1972. Ken worked for the state as a Programmer. He loved gardening and after his retirement gardening became one of his joys. He had a beautiful Japanese Garden in his home. Ken was a talented craftsman and was also very smart with computers. Ken was the beloved husband of Miriam (Kierstead). Father of Christopher of Woburn, Michele Hackler of IL and Michael of Woburn. Brother of Judith Oakley of IL. Grandfather of Aidan and Madeline Sarah. A Visitation will be held at St. Anthony’s Church, 851 Main St. , Woburn on Wednesday, December 17 at 9:30 a.m. Followed by a Memorial Mass at 10 AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials in Ken’s name may be made to Friends of St. Anthony, 79 Elm St., Woburn, MA 01801.
