Obituary of Betty Robar
Betty J. (Hall) Robar, a resident of Burlington since 1959, passed away unexpectedly at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center on Thursday evening, December 18, 2014. The beloved wife of the late Arnold, she was 82 years old.
Mbr> Betty was born in Amerstdale, West Virginia. She lived in Man West Virginia as a young child and then Betty, her mom Norma and her sister Muriel moved to Ohio where she attended high school. After high school she enlisted in the United Air Force. Betty was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Betty would meet her future husband Arnold, also a member of the Air Force, while they were both stationed at Eglin AFB in Florida. They married on August 13, 1953 while stationed in Mississippi. Betty eventually retired from the Air Force when she was expecting her first child.
Betty and Arnold settled in Burlington in 1959 where they would raise their three children. She worked for over 20 years at RCA, which eventually became GE. She started as a circuit board solder and retired as a Group Leader. Betty and her family enjoyed camping when their children where young. They camped in all different destinations in Massachusetts, Cape Cod, Maine and Florida to name a few. During their retirement years Betty and Arnold spent three months of the year right on the beach at Anna Maria Island in Florida. While in Florida they always looked forward to visits from their children and grandchildren.
Betty was a loving and caring woman. She was devoted to her husband Arnold and when he took ill, she visited him daily at the VA in Bedford. She had a love of animals and after Arnold passed away she decided to “adopt” a cat. She loved her cat Moose, who was great companion for Betty. Betty’s passion was her gardening. Her perennial garden was filled each spring and summer with beautiful lilies, hydrangeas, roses and other flowers. Betty had a wonderful close relationship with her three children and her grandchildren. She was blessed to be a part of her grandchildren’s lives and to see the birth of three of her great grandchildren.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Arnold Robar. She was the mother of Robert Robar & his wife Cheri of Moultonborough, NH, Diane Mazzone & her husband Robert of Dracut and David Robar & his wife Agnes of Moultonborough, NH. Sister of the late Muriel Browning. Proud Grandmother of Robert C. Robar, Jennifer Lynn Murphy, Leanne Mazzone & her fiancée Chanth So, Michael Robar and Ashley Lentz & her husband Bill. Great Grandmother of Isabella, Aiden and Grace. A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Dec. 22 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Concluding with Funeral Services at 12:30 p.m. Burial in Chestnut Hill Cemetery BurlingtonRelatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
