Obituary of Mary Watkins

Mary S. Watkins passed away at the Winchester Hospital on Thursday, January 1, 2015. The beloved wife of the late Gordon S. Watkins, she was 92 years old. Mary was born, raised and educated in Winchester. She was one of nine children born to the late Alfonso and Mary DeFilippo. Mary worked as a Bookkeeper at National Lead and then she went on to work as a bookkeeper at Lannon Chevrolet in Woburn for over 30 years. Mary and her husband Gordon married in 1948 and had a wonderful life together. They enjoyed traveling taking trips and had even taken a trip cross country. She loved sports following all the Boston sports teams. She was an avid reader. Mary had a very close relationship with the staff at the Reading Public Library where she was a frequent visitor. Mary lived an active and independent life throughout her 92 years. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Gordon S. Watkins. She was the sister of Rosalie Gregory of TX, Theresa Pierce of Winchester, Sr. Geraldine DeFilippo of Winchester, Carl DeFilippo of Winchester and the late Guy DeFilippo, Anna Foley and Josephine Rivers. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were private.
