Obituary of Peter Bieren

Peter Bieren, Jr., a retired fabricator, who worked on specialized valves for submarines and spacecraft passed away on Sunday morning, January 4, 2015 at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, NH. He was 84 years old. Peter was born in Concord, Ma. His father Peter was an immigrant from Holland and his mother, Emily, was an immigrant from England. He grew up in Bedford. Since Bedford did not have a high school yet, Peter graduated from Lexington High School in 1949. He was a star athlete football, hockey and baseball and was inducted into the Lexington Athletic Hall of Fame. He never lost the love of sports and shared his passion with his children as a mentor, coach, and fan. It was always a thrill to watch a Patriots, Bruins, or Red Sox game with Peter. Peter served in the Air Force. He served for 4 years during the Korean War. He held the rank of Airman Second Class and served much of his service attached to the 805th Operation Squadron at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, 2 Bronze Stars, and National Defense Service Medal. After his service, Peter worked as a Milkman. He had his own truck and route making deliveries to homes and businesses on a daily basis. When the generation of Milkman was winding to an end, Peter went to work at Jerguson Gage and Valve in Burlington. He fabricated valves used in submarines and spacecraft. Peter had made his home in Burlington from 1959 to 1993. It was there that he raised his family and coached youth sports. He has spent his retirement years in Laconia New Hampshire. He enjoyed spending his days working in his garden and then sharing his harvest with family and friends. What he enjoyed most was his family. Peter was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Brundige) Bieren of Laconia, NH. He was the loving father of Debra Sullivan & her husband Robert of Bedford, Peter Bieren III & his wife Mildred of Laconia, NH, Paul & his wife Robyn of Burlington, William & his wife Ingrid and James & his wife Karen all of Tewksbury. He was the brother of William & his wife Susan of Bedford and brother-in-law of Anna Brundige of Burlington, the late Fred and John Brundige. Peter was also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington, MA (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Wednesday, January 7 from 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The interment will be private. Memorials in Peter’s name may be made to the Community Action Program, 121 Belmont Road, Laconia, NH 03246.
