Obituary of George Brady

George “Red” Brady passed away at the Blair House in Tewksbury on Friday afternoon, January 23, 2014. The beloved husband of 62 years of Barbara J. (Murray) he was 84 years old. Red was born and raised in Medford. He was one of five sons born to the late Benedict and Eleanor Brady. He was a graduate of Medford High School. Red was a veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the United States Air Force. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Red and Barbara married in 1952 and moved to Burlington in 1955 where they would raise their four children. For the past 28 years they had resided in Woburn. Red was a hard worker and was always looking to provide for his family. He was a Retired Fire Fighter for the Town of Burlington. While a Fire Fighter he also worked a second job doing wall papering and painting. When his children were young he coached his sons in hockey and baseball. Red was not one to sit idle and during his retirement years he worked as a courier for Mayo Clinic in Wilmington. Red and Barbara enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Baldwin Apple Squares. They loved to travel and had taken cruises, trips Aruba and weekend visits to Foxwoods to name a few. Red will be remembered as a man who devoted his life to providing for his family and who had a wonderful marriage of 62 years to his wife Barbara. Red was the beloved husband of 62 years of Barbara J. (Murray). Loving father of David of Woburn, Michael of Billerica, Debra O’Neil & her husband Edward of Billerica and Stephen & his wife Susan of Pepperell. Brother of Peter of Medford & FL, William of Medford and the late Edward & Benedict “Ben”. Grandfather of David Brady, Jr., Lisa Bourne-Taylor, Leah Hartung, Cynthia O’Neil, Kristin Miranda, Stephanie Bergeron, and Patrick & Shannon Brady. Also survived by 5 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Jan. 30 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
