Obituary of Nadine Ann Nielsen

Nadine Ann (Platt) Nielsen, passed away at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center on Sunday, February 1, 2015. The beloved wife of 50 years of Larry Nielsen, she was 71 years old. Nadine was born, raised and educated in the farming community of Worland Wyoming. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn Platt. After high school, Nadine went on to graduate from the University of Wyoming with a BA in Education and Business. It was there that she would meet her future husband, Larry. Nadine and Larry would move to Burlington in 1967, where Nadine would substitute teach in the surrounding towns at the Junior High and High School level. Nadine’s primarily role in life was that of wife and mother. So once she had her two children, Natalee and Troy, she left teaching. She never forgot her Wyoming roots and visited her family in Worland often. Nadine was a social person and had many friendships that kept her from being idle. Nadine was the type of person that people were drawn towards and was a confidante to many friends and family members. She enjoyed a good competitive game of cards, especially bridge. Nadine enjoyed traveling to New England destinations such as Maine and Cape Cod, and was an avid New England Patriots fan. Nadine was blessed to have five grandchildren Myles, Stella, Esther, Mitch and Jake. She always looked forward to spending time with them whether it was a family holiday, a dancing competition, or special one-on-one time while she was babysitting them. Nadine and Larry had just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in June of 2014. Nadine was the beloved wife of 50 years of Larry L. Nielsen. She was the loving mother of Natalee Bushen & her husband Kirk of Tewksbury and Troy Nielsen & his wife Lucy of Atlanta, GA. Sister of the late Charles Kenneth Platt. Proud grandmother of Myles, Stella & Esther Nielsen and Mitch & Jake Bushen. Sister in-law of Kay Platt and Diana & Don Swanson. Cousin of Verene Posavod, George Posavod and Evie Busch. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Feb. 6 at 9 a.m. Followed by Funeral Services at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 60 Forest Park Road, Woburn at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield. Memorials in Nadine’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
