Obituary of Evangeline Chin Fatt Burkart

Evangeline Chin Fatt Burkart (Bev’s Mom), passed away peacefully at the Winchester Hospital on Monday afternoon, February 9, 2015. She was 99 years old. Eve was born in Havana, Cuba on May 26, 1915, and grew up in Jamaica, West Indies where she raised her family and was very active in the Chinese Athletic Club and Catholic groups in her home parish. After emigration to Orlando, FL in the 1960’s, she was active in local bowling leagues (11 lb ball, please, no candlepins for her), and in her local Orlando Good Shepherd Catholic Church where she served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister. She had a friendly and charming smile for everyone with whom she came into contact. They all called her “a real cutie”. Eve was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Chin Fatt of Jamaica, West Indies and the late Robert Burkart of Orlando, FL. Loving mother of Sr. Maureen Avril Chin Fatt, osf, Sisters of St. Francis of Allegany NY, Mt Ephraim, NJ, Beverley Broderick & her husband Jerry of Burlington, Kurth Chin Fatt & his wife Lynn VanHorne of Longwood, FL, Janet Chin Fatt of Vancouver, British Columbia, Christopher Chin Fatt & his wife Donna, Calgary, Alberta & Dave Chin Fatt, of Hollywood, FL, Sister of the late Archie Chung & Winston Chung of Jamaica, West Indies, and Lloyd Chung of Ft. Worth, TX. Grandmother of Melissa & her husband Pike Powers of Atlanta, GA, Kate & her husband Matt Hauge, of Atlanta GA, Kevin Chin Fatt & his wife Jodie, Orlando, FL, Mark & Michele Broderick of Wilmington, MA, Robyn and her husband Blair Isbister of Calgary, AB, Adam Chin Fatt of Toronto, Canada. Also Survived by nine great-grand children and (so far!) one great-great grandchild. A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Feb. 13 from 10 – 11:30 AM followed by a Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 111 Winn St., at Noon. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
