Obituary of Kenneth Yetman

Kenneth M. Yetman, a resident of Burlington for 51 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Saturday evening, January 27 2007. The husband of Betty L. (Sparkes) he was 84 years old. Mr. Yetman was born in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland Canada. He was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Yetman. Mr. Yetman and his family moved to the United States and settled in Revere where he was raised and educated. He was a Veteran of World War II serving his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the 519th Military Police Battalion, which was deployed to the Pacific Theatre occupying the island of Okinawa. He achieved the rank of Sargent and was the recepient of the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic Pacfic Theater Campaign Ribbon, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Mr. Yetman and his wife settled in Burlington in 1956. He was a hardworking man, who always had a second job to help provide for his family. He was employed for over 44 years as a machinist for Jerguson Gauge & Valve in Burlington. He was also employed at Ginn Oil, Service Master, and a number of other businesses over his working years. Mr. Yetman’s life was centered around his family and his church. He and his wife Betty were actively involved in the inception of the Fellowship Bible Church in Burlington. They first met in homes and halls before the church was actually built. He was a Deacon, Usher, Financial Recorder, and also taught Sunday School at the church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was proud of his children. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson. He was blessed to have a life that spanned 84 years that was filled with many special times spent with his family and parish community. Mr. Yetman is the beloved husband of Betty L. (Sparkes). He is the loving father of Susan Yetman Lewis and Steven Yetman & his wife Deborah all of Billerica. He is the brother of Stella Matson of Billerica, Edward Yetman of Malden and the late Dorothy Mugford. He is the grandfather of Melissa Lewis of Bradford, Matthew Lewis of Billerica, and Brian Yetman of Billerica. He is the great grandfather of Jason. Funeral Services will be held at the Fellowship Bible Church, 71 Center St., Burlington on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128 Woburn side) on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m
