Obituary of Theodore Osborne

Theodore M. Osborne, a retired engineer, passed away after a brief illness at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, on Thursday, December 29, 2011. He was 81 years old. Theodore was born in Waltham, the son of the late Tina and Theodore N. Osborne. His family remained in Waltham until he was five and then moved to his mother's hometown of Pembroke, Maine. He was educated in Pembroke and was a graduate of Pembroke High School. He then served in the Navy during the Korean War. He held the rank of Electronics Technician Second Class and had the honor of serving on the USS Des Moines, the Navy’s largest cruiser, which served as the Navy’s Flagship of the Sixth Fleet. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Navy Service Occupation Medal. He served almost 4 years in the Navy before being honorably discharged. He used his knowledge and experience gained from the Navy to guide him to a career in the Electronics field. He went to school nights at Northeastern University to earn his degree in engineering. He spent most of his working career as an electronics engineer at BAIRD Corporation in Bedford. He retired with over 35 years of service with BAIRD. Theodore had a number of interests and activities. He was a former member of the Simonds Lodge of the Masons. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working with his hands and working in and around his home. He could fix or repair almost anything in his home. He enjoyed spending his later years at the Council on Aging in Burlington. He had a passion for history, physics, and politics. He had been a resident of Burlington for the past 52 years. Theodore was the father of David W. Osborne & His wife Janet of Mashpee and Theodore M. Osborne II & his wife Colette of Burlington. He was the brother of Mary Caruso of Norwood and the late Charles N. He was the grandfather of Scott & Chelsea Osborne of Woburn. Funeral Services will be private.
