Obituary of Gary LeBarron
Gary E. “Jerry” LeBarron, a retired Master SGT in the United States Army, passed away at Lexington Health Care on Friday, February 13, 2015. The beloved husband of 55 years of Ethel (Skelton), he was 82 years old.
Jerry was born, raised, and educated in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Clyde and Bertha LeBarron. He was inducted into the United States Army where he would serve a long and distinguished career that would span twenty-two years. He saw service in both the Korean and the Vietnam Wars serving in Okinawa, the Philippines, Tehran, Iran, Bern, Switzerland, and Bangkok, Thailand. He was the recipient of Korean Service Medal, Merit Unit Commendation, United States Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Bronze Star and 2 Overseas Bars. Jerry was stationed at Fort Devens where he would meet his future wife Ethel at a Lowell roller skating rink. He was an avid roller skater, even being featured on TV. They became roller dancing partners and soon after, life partners, married in June of 1959. Jerry and Ethel traveled the world as Jerry was stationed at three different United States Embassies: Tehran, Iran, Bern Switzerland, and Bangkok, Thailand. He retired from the service in 1973 and they moved to Burlington to give their daughter Debbie a more stable life and to be closer to Ethel’s large family.
Jerry was not one to be idle. During his retirement years he attended U Mass Lowell where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance. He was an avid seller on Ebay of international coins. He was rated a top seller on Ebay and received many awards. Jerry had a very close relationship with his daughter Debbie and her husband Tony. He was very proud of his three grandchildren and was very blessed to be a part of their lives.
Jerry was the beloved husband of 55 years of Ethel (Skelton). He was the loving father of Debra Ferragamo & her husband Anthony of Haverhill. Proud grandfather of Michael & his girlfriend Kajsa, David & Renee Ferragamo all of Haverhill. He was the son of the late Clyde and Bertha LeBarron, twin brother of the late Graham, and older brother of the late Clyde Jr., and Dennis all of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Jerry was also the son-in-law of the late Louis and Esther (Rogers) Skelton of Burlington.
A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 4-7:30 p.m. Concluding with funeral services and military honors at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jerry’s name may be made to any Disabled American Veterans Organization of your choice.
