Obituary of Louis Beard

Louis C. Beard Jr., a Lifelong resident of Burlington passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, March 17, 2015. He was 82 years old. Louis was more known to his family and friends as “Louie”, “Big Lou”, or “Buppa” and lived his entire life in Burlington. He was one of 27 students to graduate from Burlington High School in 1950. He was a member of the Basketball team. He served in the Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. Lou spent 55 years working as a machinist in the tool and dye industry. He was extremely talented, knowledgeable and innovative. He owned his own business, Beard Machine Co. in Burlington and co-owned J & J Machine Company. He worked closely with Raytheon and other corporations manufacturing parts used in a wide variety of machines and equipment including missile systems and spacecraft. Louie loved being surrounded by his family and friends. He was about to celebrate his 60th wedding anniversary. He and his wife Jane made a wonderful couple. They would go out dancing on Friday and Saturday nights. They enjoyed dinners at the Escadrille and Ninety Nine. They both enjoyed playing cards, going to the races, a trip to the casino, or family time spent around their pool. Louie was always there for his children. He was their coach in hockey, little league, Babe Ruth and softball. Later in life, he had the opportunity to play with his sons on the Cenci’s Softball team. He loved being “Buppa” to his five grandsons. He enjoyed all the time he shared with them and was always in the stands or sidelines rooting for them as they played in their sports. He loved to share special time with his grandson Alek before and after school. He adored them dearly and was loved by them and will forever be remembered as “Buppa”. Louie was the beloved husband of 60 years of Jane (Herd) Beard. He was the loving father of Jennifer Dunning & her husband James of Upton, Louis Beard, III & his wife Nanette (Cenci) of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and David & his fiancé Jesca Brown of Malden. He was the son of the late Louis & Julia Beard. He was the brother of Lorraine (McLean) Addonizio of Revere. Louie was the proud grandfather of James Jr., Sean, Matthew & Cameron Dunning and Alek Beard. He was also survived by loving niece Bonnie-Lynn (McLean) Roberts, niece Alysia Addonizio and nephew Edgar McLean Jr. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, March 20 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
