Obituary of Anna Margaret Dunn
Anna Margaret Dunn, a retired bookkeeper for the Town of Burlington passed away after a long illness at the Woburn Nursing Center in Woburn on Sunday afternoon, March 29, 2015. She was 87 years old.
Anna was born in Somerville, the daughter of the late John and Irene Gammon. She grew up in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School. She would go onto earn her Associates Degree. She married John J. Dunn and they settled in Burlington in 1952. She had worked for many years as a bookkeeper in the Public Works Department in the Town of Burlington. In her retirement years, she worked as a secretary and coordinator at Minuteman Home Care and at Share A Ride in Lexington. When she was younger, she also worked at Marshalls Department Store. She volunteered with People Helping People in Burlington and at the Council on Aging in Burlington. She started the Jazz Music Series at the Seniors.
Anna was a fun and loving individual. She was a bit of an adventurer and she always brought some excitement and fun to any gathering or event she attended. She enjoyed working in her garden and sharing her harvests with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending the winters in Florida during her retirement years. As can be seen by all her clubs and activities she was very involved in the community and in her family’s lives. She was kind and compassionate and was a great person to seek council, advice, or share a problem. She was very proud of all her family and was blessed to see the births of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Anna was the beloved wife of the late John J. Dunn. Loving mother of Kathleen “Katie” Auth of Burlington, Christine Decareau & her husband Peter of Burlington, and John J. Dunn, Jr. & his wife Kristi of Aptos, CA. Sister of John Gammon. Proud grandmother of Samantha Ondzes of Candia, NH, Patrick John Auth of Tewksbury, Peter Decareau, of NY, NY, Andrew John Dunn of Burlington, Kathryn Dunn of Burlington, and Michael Dunn of CA., Great grandmother of Riley, Logan, Skylar, Colby, Ethan, Dan, and Maddy.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret’s Church 111 Winn St., Burlington; on Friday April 24 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Anna’s name may be made to Minuteman Home Care, 24 3rd Ave, Burlington, MA 01803.
