Obituary of Michael Anderson

Michael Matthew Anderson passed away unexpectedly on April 11 at the age of 24. Growing up in a Navy family, Michael traveled around the globe and collected many amazing experiences. Born in San Diego, CA Michael lived in Newport, RI, Alexandria, VA, Mayport, FL, Naples, Italy, and Auburn, NH. Michael enjoyed seeing the various wonders of the world, from the Eiffel Tower views of Paris to taking a gondola ride through the canals of Venice, Michael catalogued incredible adventures with his family. Michael was a trivia wiz and an excellent student with a fondness for theology, history and literature. He was a graduate of Manchester West High School, Class of 2010. While he started his college education at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, Michael finished his degree in Paralegal Studies at Hesser College. Michael was an independent and spirited young man with a deep love for the great outdoors. He loved camping, kayaking, and teaching others on hiking trails. Growing up he was a member of the JROTC, the local Catholic youth group and the Boy Scouts of America. As a Scout, Michael served as a Senior Patrol Leader and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Known for his strong work ethic and kind heart, Michael exhibited leadership and teamwork with his co-workers. Michael will be remembered as a kind, generous, faithful friend to all. He was the loving son of Linda (McDonald) and Gustav Anderson of Mechanicsville, MD. One of five children, Michael was the brother of LT Jeffrey Applebaugh USN & his wife Sandra of Norfolk, VA, Colleen Applebaugh of New York City, NY, Andrew & Thomas Anderson of Mechanicsville, MD. He was the grandson of Thomas and the late Irene McDonald of Burlington, and the late Gus & Mary Anderson. Michael is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, two nephews, a niece & many friends. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON, MA (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Tuesday, April 21 at 9:30 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours Monday at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The interment will be private.
