John,
In the 25 years I’ve known you, I’ve never met a more dedicated man in what he believed in.
Your positive way made coaching with you a pleasure and very educational. In the 17 years I was with you I’ve seen you turn kids that couldn’t play hockey into hockey players and kids that thought they could play into hockey players.
I’ve never met anyone so well respected in the hockey community whether it be friend or foe.
What I was most proud of is you always talked of how loyal your coaching staff was, which was a big deal to you. I personally don’t know how you could not be loyal to a guy like you.
You always had an interest in the 200 plus kids that we coached over the years. We had some ups and downs but you always stayed positive.
One of the biggest compliments that I ever got was from other teams parents and coaches was how our kids never moved during the national anthem, that’s respect!
I enjoyed our conversations about hockey, life in general and R&B music.
Your passing saddens me and you will always be in my thoughts.
You were a good friend.
In closing I would like to make this statement, only you, Dan Brothers and I will understand…after 20 years I can finally turn the lights out
Rest In Peace my friend.

Hey John,
You did it all ! Although your ride was cut short, you were very productive. In spite of all the pitfalls viz, diabetes, kidney failure and replacement, the
debilitating affects of the Vietnam War wounds, Life was not fair to you but You came through with flying colors.
Pretty good for a young man from Cambridge. I salute You. I can only hope to match the strength you exhibited as your health declined.
KEEP ON GOLFING Fellow Cantibrigian and Neighbor

So sorry to hear at lunch today at Meadowbrook, that John passed away. I talked to him last week, and he said he had not given up and was looking for a second opinion. He wanted to get a referral at Mass Gen'l and I gave him the name of the doctor my brother had with some success with his liver cancer, and he seemed encouraged. I then heard he had gotten an appointment, but I guess it was too late. He will be missed at Meadowbrook, but more so by his family. A great guy, who I was glad to befriend.
