Obituary of John Lakis
John Lakis, a retired truck driver passed away unexpectedly at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Sunday, February 11, 2007. The husband of Edna (Marshall) Larkis, he was 88 years old.
John was born in Boston the son of Polish immigrants, the late Michael and Josephine Lakis. He worked up until the age of 86. He was a member of the Teamsters and worked as a truck driver his entire working career. John worked for a number trucking companies over the years including Associated Trucking. He tried retirement when he reached his sixties, was much happier working so he took a driver’s position at Tighe Trucking in Woburn. He worked for them until he turned the age of 86. Even in the past few years, he enjoyed going back to Tighe to visit his former coworkers.
Mr. Lakis is the beloved husband of Edna (Marshall). He is the loving father of Dorothy & her husband Brendan Ridge of Virginia Beach, VA and John M. Lakis of Philadelphia, PA. He is the grandfather of Mark and Arlene Ridge of VA and brother of the late Mary and Antonia.
A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, February 15 from 10 to 11 a.m. Followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 6-8 p.m. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
