Obituary of L. Catherine Hogan

L. Catherine (Sena) Hogan, a resident of Burlington for 64 years, passed away at the Milford Regional Medical Center on Friday evening, January 13, 2012. The beloved wife of the late Richard J. Hogan who passed away in 1995, she was 92 years old. Catherine was born in her family home on Winn St., in Woburn. She was one of six children born to the late Nicholas and Sarah Sena. She was raised and educated in Woburn where she lived until moving to Burlington in 1948 where she became an active member of the community as well as St. Margaret’s Church. Catherine was a strong and independent woman. As a young bride with one son born and another on the way her husband was drafted into the Navy during World War II. In later years in addition to raising her 4 sons Catherine worked in the offices of both Memorial School and Meadowbrook School. In the late in 1950’s Catherine worked tirelessly to help raise funds to build St. Margaret’s Church. She was a woman of deep faith and attended Mass daily. Catherine had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed painting both oils and water colors. Catherine was an avid reader most especially enjoying history books. She had a talent for making patchwork quilts and would quilt lap blankets for those in wheelchairs. Catherine traveled extensively both with her husband and her friends. She had visited such destinations as China, Rome and Portugal. Her trips didn’t just last a week or ten days. Catherine’s trips would last sometimes up to six weeks. Catherine was a member of the Council on Aging where she enjoyed many friendships and participating in the activities. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be lovingly missed. Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. Hogan. She was the loving mother of Robert F. Hogan & his wife Priscilla of Berlin, Richard P. Hogan & his wife Dianne of Burlington, and the late Daniel J. Hogan & Thomas E. Hogan. Sister of Mary Jeannette Hill of Woburn and the late Alice Pecora, Henry, John & Nicholas Sena. Devoted grandmother of Daniel J. of Berlin, David P. of Marshfield & Sarah Hogan Crowley of Tewksbury. Great grandmother of Dylan & Andrew Crowley, Amelia, Bridgete & Trevor Hogan. Mother-in-law of Heidi Fabbri of Evanston, IL. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
