Obituary of Rita Moglia

Rita A. Moglia, a woman who traveled the world, passed away at the Sunrise Assisted Living on Saturday, July 4, 2015. She was 88 years old. Rita was born in Boston. She was raised and educated in the North End of Boston. She was one of four children born to the late Domenic & Teresa Moglia. After graduating high school Rita went on to attend Burdett College in Boston where she received her Associates Degree. Rita moved to Somerville in the early 1960’s where she lived until she moved to Burlington in recent years to live with her niece Phyllis. Rita worked at Shawmut Bank in Boston for over 35 years retiring at the age of 67 as a Supervisor. Not one to sit idle for too long she came out of retirement to work in the Admissions Department at Harvard University for a number of years. Rita loved life and her family. She enjoyed ceramics and shared her finished pieces with her family. She travelled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Rita loved Cape Cod and owned a home in Falmouth where she and her family spent many special times together. She had a very close relationship with her nieces and nephews and in later years her great nieces and nephews. Rita will be remembered as a woman full of life who had great love for her family. Rita was the beloved daughter of the late Domenic and Teresa Moglia. Loving sister of the late Angela Venezia, Louis Moglia & Mary Moglia. Devoted aunt of Phyllis Petitto & her late husband Frank of Burlington, Louis Venezia & Candace Turner of Naples, FL, Nick Venezia & his wife Roseann of Everett and the late Theresa Ann Venezia. Great aunt of Mark & Kristi Petitto, Victoria & Peter Fitzpatrick, Anthony & Amy Venezia and Stephen & Therese Venezia. Great Great aunt of Anna Fitzpatrick, Alessandra Petitto and Cole & August Venezia. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday July 9th at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 3-7 p.m. Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston. Memorial’s in Rita’s name may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Jimmy Fund, Contribution Services, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445-7226
