Obituary of Dorothy Alton
Dorothy B. (Barber) Alton, a veteran of World War II, passed away at the Countryside Nursing Home, on Friday morning, July 24, 2015. Dorothy had celebrated her 101 birthday on July 5th.
Dorothy was born in Worcester. She was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Barber. Dorothy was a veteran of World War II serving her country in the United States Navy. Her role in the Navy was to instruct Teachers at the Navy Flight School how to fly. She did this for three years. Dorothy settled in Dudley where she and her husband would raise their daughter Cora. She had a passion for antiques and would open an antique store in Dudley called “176 Antiques”. Dorothy travelled the world and took many trips with her daughter Cora whom she had a very special relationship with. As her health began to decline Dorothy moved in her with daughter Cora and son-in-law Bob in Framingham. They spent many holiday’s with their extended family – the Higson’s. Dorothy was blessed to live a life that spanned 101 years and had experienced wartime, peacetime and many special times with her husband and her daughter.
Dorothy was the wife of the late H. Roger Alton. Loving and devoted mother of Cora Higson & her husband Robert of Framingham. Sister of the late Elliott Barber. Funeral Services were private. Arrangements under the direction of the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, BURLINGTON.
