Obituary of Robin Marie Hurley

Robin Hurley of Burlington passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at The Lahey Clinic after a heroic struggle with cancer at the age of 51 years. Robin was born in Arlington and raised in Somerville, MA. Robin was the loving wife William G. Hurley for 24 years. She was the cherished mother of her sons; William John, Sean Patrick, and Johnathan Michael Hurley. She was the daughter of John McDevitt & the late Margaret (Woods) McDevitt, his wife Nancy (Woods) McDevitt. Robin was the sister of Margaret Ann Walsh and her husband Bill, and brother Brian McDevitt & his wife Nicole. She was the daughter-in-law of the late William & Marie Hurley. She was the sister-in-law of Patrice Hurley and the late Eugene Dorof, Michelle & Charles Matteo, Brianne & Michael Caso, Erin & Jerry O’Sullivan, Claudette & Clifton Regan. Robin also leaves many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Robin graduated from North Cambridge Catholic High School and earned her Associates Degree from Boston College. She has worked at Raytheon for the past 30 years, currently as an Information Technology Specialist. It was at Raytheon that she met the love of her life, Bill Hurley, who she went onto to marry. She enjoyed her many years at Raytheon and had many coworkers she considered friends. Robin had the keen ability to balance her career with raising 3 energetic sons. She loving referred to them as “Her Boys” and joyfully did everything in her ability to care for, support, and encourage them. Driving her sons to their football, baseball, basketball and golf practices, games, and tournaments became her part-time job. She greatly enjoyed being in the stands or sidelines passionately supporting “Her Boys” in the sporting interests and served on the Board of Burlington Pop Warner. Robin was also an active volunteer in her children’s schools. She enjoyed family vacations to Hawaii, Florida, Aruba, and Onset. An element of her legacy is the time and effort she devoted to celebrating life with family and friends. She was full of gratitude, love, and giving to others. The family’s devotion to one other has been a joy for all who know them to behold. The family would like to thank the very caring staff at the Lahey Clinic and the many family and friends who offered support in so many ways during Robin’s illness. Visiting hours are from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, August 7th at the Sullivan Funeral Home, located at 43 Winn Street in Burlington. The funeral will begin at the funeral home at 8 a.m. and be followed by a mass of Christian Burial at St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington, this Saturday at 9 a.m. Interment will be in the Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
