Obituary of Frank Ardito

Francesco “Frank” Ardito, a man who lived the American Dream passed away after an extended illness at the Excel nursing facility in Lexington. He was 68 years old. Frank was born in Gaeta, Italy, the son of the late Gaetano and Antonietta Ardito. He learned the importance of hard work from his father at a very young age. He worked alongside his father in the farms of Gaeta. He also served as a mate on an oil tanker from the age of 12 to 22. He used his acquired skills to open his own Boat shop where he repaired and serviced a diverse type of vessels. He was also a talented soccer player and was asked to play professional soccer. His life changed when he was visiting his cousin in the United States at the age of 30. He met and fell in love with Margaret Tagliamonte, a friend of his cousin. He gave up everything in Italy to come to America and marry his sweetheart. They eventually settled in Woburn, where they made their home for over 30 years. He was so proud to become an American. He quickly learned the language and started a new career as a metal worker. He spent over 30 years at Thermo Electron Corporation’s Tecomet Division where he helped manufacture medical implants including hips. The word “idleness” was not in Frank’s vocabulary. He was always on the go. He was an extremely hard worker. After long days at his job, he would come home and go right to work. He could do almost anything. Over the years, he has basically rebuilt his home room by room. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to a family member or friend as well. He also spent a considerable amount of time working in his flower and vegetable gardens. He took such pride in his harvests and happily shared his fruits of his hard work with family, friends, and neighbors. He also was a very talented wine maker. He enjoyed sports and was a Celtics fan. He loved going on family vacations to North Conway, NH and Disney World, Florida. He was a very kind and loving husband to his wife of 37 years, Margaret. He was a very proud father. He worked hard to give his children excellent educations and was so proud of all their accomplishments. Frank was the devoted husband of Margaret P. (Tagliamonte) Ardito of Tewksbury, formerly of Woburn. He was the Loving father of Erika Ardito of Austin, TX and Michael Ardito of Waltham. He was the brother-in-law of Ralph & Cheryl Tagliamonte of Weymouth. He was also the uncle of Paul & Julie Tagliamonte of Burlington and great uncle of Christian & Nathan Tagliamonte of Burlington. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday September 8 from 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
