Obituary of Sally Ferreira
Sally (Marques) Ferreira, passed away at the Methuen Health & Rehab Center on Monday morning, January 23, 2012. The beloved wife of the late Francisco “Frank” Ferreira, she was 91 years old.
Sally was born, raised and educated in New Bedford. She was the daughter of the late John and Alice Marques. Sally’s husband was a civilian working for the Army Air Corps when they were first married. Due to his job they lived in the Azores for several years as well as in France and Washington D.C. They eventually settled in Burlington in 1951 where they raised their two sons. Sally was the ultimate homemaker and caregiver. She loved her home and enjoyed taking care of her family. She always prepared and cooked “three meals a day” for her family. She was very involved in her two son’s lives as they were growing up. She was an active member of St. Malachy’s’ church and volunteered her time there through the years. She enjoyed making crafts, knitting and crocheting for the church fairs. After her husband’s retirement they wintered in Florida for 25 years. She was blessed to have three grandchildren who she was very close with. Sally will be remembered as a caring and loving woman who had a heart of gold.
Sally was the beloved wife of the late Francisco “Frank” Ferreira. She was the loving mother of Frank Ferreira of N. Andover and John Ferreira & his wife Wendy of Methuen. Sister of Joe Marques of Norwood, John Marques of Acushnet , Aline Silva of Wilmington, CT and the late Maryann Pequita and Brizilio “Zulo” Marques. Devoted grandmother of Douglas, Natalie and Kimberly.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., BURLINGTON at 12 Noon. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
