Sparkle
If I had to pick just one word to describe my Aunt Joanie, it would be sparkle.
Joanie loved anything and everything that sparkled. She was often seen wearing a hat or shirt covered in sequins or a big giant sparkly ring that cast rainbow prisms everywhere.
That was how Joanie sparkled on the outside but the sparkle that she had on the inside is what I admired most.
Wherever she went she made people smile, as soon as she entered a room she was there to greet you with a smile and her arms wide open ready to give you a big “Joanie” hug.
It was a guarantee that if Joanie was in the room you were going to get a big Joanie hug and she was going to tell you how much she loved you and how beautiful you were. She taught me that a smile and a hug can fix anything and even if people know you love them, tell them again. Make sure they hear it from your voice. Because of this I will carry her love in my heart forever.
An important life lesson Joanie taught me was that if there is music on… get out there and dance!!!! Dance like no one is watching because the party is on the dance floor.
The last time I saw Joanie, I told her that she taught me so much in life. She taught me to sparkle, and to pass it on because happiness and kindness is contagious.
So in the memory of Joanie, leave a little sparkle everywhere you go for “she who leaves a trail of glitter is never forgotten”
