Obituary of Salvatore Assenza
Salvatore Assenza passed away at the Winchester Hospital after a brief illness on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. The beloved husband of the late Concetta (Saraceno), he was 91 years old
Salvatore was born in Canicattini Bagni Italy. He was the son of the late Sebastian and Maria Assenza. Salvatore and his wife Concetta grew up in the same home town of Italy. They came to the United States in the mid 1950’s. They lived in the North End of Boston when they first arrived in the United States and then moved to Somerville eventually settling in Burlington in 1964.
Salvatore worked as a Plaster in the Construction Industry specializing in new home construction. He had a great work ethic and used his talents to work around his homes. After his retirement Salvatore took great joy in working on his vegetable garden in his home. He was blessed to have two children that he was very close to. Since they lived in the same town as his daughter Maria they spent time together on a daily basis. Salvatore had a summer home on the Bay in Westerly Rhode Island and the family vacationed there for many summers. He was blessed to spend three weeks in Rhode Island this summer with his son Sebastian. Salvatore will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who had great love of his family.
Salvatore was the beloved husband of the late Concetta (Saraceno). He was the loving father of Maria Duffey & her husband Ted of Burlington and Sebastian Assenza & his wife Barbara of Fort Salonga, NY. Proud “Pop” of Megan, Brian & Liam Assenza. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, BURLINGTON.
