Obituary of Robert Ferro

Robert J. “Bob” Ferro a retired Burlington Fire Fighter passed away on Tuesday Sept 29th at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was 77 years old. Robert was born and raised in Waltham surrounded by all his aunts, uncles and many cousins. His Mother was the late Viola MacDonald and his favorite aunts were Grace and Nancy. He served in the Army. He settled in Burlington with his wife and 5 children in 1966. He loved saving lives and was proud to be a member of the Burlington Fire Department. Robert was a person of family. He was a man who loved being outdoors. His passion was his Garden. He would spend hours every day all summer growing his vegetables, only to give most of them away to family, friends and neighbors. He truly enjoyed his family and the time they spent together, whether it be on camping trips, day outings, Sunday football games or family dinners, hanging out and enjoying each other's company. He worked hard all his life with the successful businesses he had owned and operated (Smoke Alarm Co., Ferro Painting, Better Bottle Redemption Center). He was also the neighborhood Dad and everyone loved him. His family jokingly referred to him at times as “Felix Unger” because of his fanatic attention to detail and cleanliness. He was a devoted husband for over 55 years, a loving father to his 5 kids, who adored him, a loving Grandfather to 13 Grandchildren, and a loving Great Grandfather to 3 Great Grandchildren who all loved him. He had a kind and loving personality. Robert was a loving husband of Elizabeth &quote;Betty&quote; (Pratt) Ferro. He was a loving father of Robert & his wife Lynne Ferro of Billerica, Scott Ferro of Burlington, Brenda Ferro of Burlington, David & his wife Debbie Ferro of Port Richie FL, and Lisa Fucile & her husband Jimmy of Billerica. He was predeceased by his siblings Henry MacDonald , William MacArthur, and Peggy Odam. He was the grandfather of Tanya & Tyler Ferro of Billerica, Jessica Diprizio of North Reading, Kim Diprizio of Miami FL, Scott Monteforte of Billerica, Christopher Ferro & his wife Kelley of Jaffrey NH, Kianna & Austin both of Holiday FL, Samantha Covert & her husband James of Center Conway NH and Daumanic Fucile of Seabrook, NH. He was the Great Grandfather of Shawn & Justice Ferro, Jaykob Hagestrom and Savanna Covert. Father-In-Law of Lisa Braun-Ferro. Visting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St, Burlington, Ma, 01803 (Exit 34 off of Route 128/95 towards Woburn), on Sunday Oct 11th from 1pm til 3:30pm, Services will follow at 3:30pm at the funeral home. A celebration of Robert's life will follow the services from 4:30 till 7:30pm at the American Legion, 162 Winn Street, Burlington. The Burial will be a private service for only family members.
