Lorraine Ruth Allen a retired Administrative Assistant for the Asst. Superintendent of the Burlington Public Schools passed away after a long illness on Monday morning, October 12, 2015 with her two sons, Raymond and Robert, at her bedside. She was 88 years old. Lorraine was born in Needham, the daughter of the late Edgar and Gertrude LeBlanc. She grew up and was educated in Newton and was a graduate of Newton High School. She married her husband, Vic, 58 years ago and they immediately purchased a home in Burlington. They raised their three children in Burlington. Over the years, Lorraine worked in a wide variety of jobs in the town. First she worked as an administrative assistant for the Burlington Chief of Police. Next she worked mother’s hours at the school department doing the absentee phone calls at the Meadowbrook School. When her children got older, she return to full-time work at the Administration Office at Center School and retiring as the secretary to Dr. James Picone, Assistant Superintendent. Lorraine also worked in the early days of the Burlington Recreation Department for Director Richard Binnall helping with administration and even teaching sewing classes in the evenings. Lorraine was a person of family. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She shared countless wonderful memories working with her family on her parent’s farm in Franklin, NH. There were also many memories shared at her homes on Newfound Lake and then Lake Winnipesaukee. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed knitting. She was a fantastic cook and family dinners were a special event. She loved animals, especially her longtime canine companion “Buddy”. Nothing made Lorraine happier than sharing her time with her family and friends. Lorraine was the beloved wife of 58 years of Victor H. Allen. She was the loving mother of Raymond Allen of Burlington & his girlfriend Kari Kynard of Amherst, MA, Robert Allen of Londonderry, NH, and the late Cheryl Allen. She was the sister of Edgar “Sonny” LeBlanc & his wife Elsie of Edgewater, FL, Maureen Paille of Burlington, Bernadette “Bunny” LeBlanc of NM, the late Sheila and Raymond LeBlanc. Lorraine was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Friday, October 16 at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
