Obituary of Eileen Anderson

Eileen Anderson, a mother of 8, passed away after an extended illness at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. She was 83 years old. She was born in Cambridge, the daughter of Irish immigrants, the late Patrick and Julia Casey. She married William Anderson in July of 1953 and they settled in Burlington in 1961. Eileen’s life revolved around her family. She was the one who kept the peace and order in her home. Her husband, Bill, often travelled for work, leaving Eileen with their 8 children. She was the matriarch and she ran the house. Eileen hosted holiday dinners and other special events. She welcomed everyone in her home. Eileen enjoyed a variety of interests and activities. She was born to shop and was always on the hunt for the ultimate bargains. She stayed fit and participated with many longtime classmates and friends in the Burlington Recreation Department’s aerobics programs for over 20 years. She was an avid reader. She loved to travel the United States and all over the world. She visited exotic destinations and travelled alongside her husband with the USS Salem Association. Eileen was the loving wife of the late William Anderson. She was the loving mother of Sheila Jovanovic of VA, Barbara Westaway of Tewksbury, Robert Anderson of Tewksbury, Karen Adams of Dover, NH, Scott Anderson of Hampton, NH, Jill Casali of Tuscon, AZ, Joan Abban of Burlington and the late William Anderson. Sister of the late Betty Hoffman, Peggy Powers, Mary Carrier and Joanna, Francis, John and Bobby Casey. Eileen is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Saturday, October 17 from 9:30 – 11:30 am. Concluding with Funeral Services at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
