Obituary of Kenneth Carbone
Kenneth Thomas Carbone, a recipient of the Purple Heart during his military service passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 6, 2015. He was 64 years old. Ken was born in Woburn. He grew up in Tewksbury and was a graduate of Tewksbury High School. At the age of 19, he joined the Army serving his country in Vietnam. He held the rank of E-3 and earned the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Overseas Bar, Marksman and sharpshooter badges. He was extremely proud to be an American and serve his country. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Woburn and participated in many of the ceremonies and events honoring Veterans.
Ken had worked as a sheet metal worker in the Quincy Shipyard. He was also a manager at the White Mountain Creamery in Watertown. He was a huge Boston sports fan and faithfully followed the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics. He was a member of several bowling leagues over the years. He loved cooking with his eggplant parmesan being one of his most requested dishes. As much as he liked to cook, he loved to eat. He always wanted to be surrounded by his family and surprised them all with a most memorable trip to Disney World.
Ken was the loving father of Kerry Ann Carbone of Burlington, Daniel Kenneth Carbone & his wife Renee of Dracut, April Marie Carbone of Quincy, and Mandy Elizabeth Carbone of Woburn. He was the son of Louise Carbone of Nashua, NH, formerly of Woburn and the late Thomas Carbone. He was the brother of Carol Holman of Hudson, NH, Ralph of Nashua, NH and Thomas of West Newbury. Ken was the proud grandfather of Ryan & Cameron Martin, Jason & Brayden Sylvia, Dominic & Daniel Carbone, and Riley Flipse-Carbone.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Veteran’s Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
