Obituary of Raymond Prendergast
Raymond “Ray” Prendergast passed away suddenly on Tuesday night, November 17, 2015. He was 57 years old. Ray was born in Boston, the son of the late Raymond and Edith Prendergast. He grew up in Watertown and was a 1976 graduate of Watertown High School. Ray then went to work in the Telecom industry. He started as an installer at Rolm New England. As technologies evolved he had worked as a Telecommunications Supervisor at Apollo Computer, Hewlett Packard and Tufts Health Plans, each time taking on more responsibilities. In recent years he was a Contract and Vendor Manager for Delaware Life Insurance and Sun Life Financial.
Ray married his wife Michele in 1990 and they purchased a home in Burlington. They had 2 children, Joey and Laura, and Ray loved being a part of their lives. He was an avid fan of the sports and activities that his children enjoyed including figure skating, dance, softball, baseball, soccer, robotics team and gymnastics. He had been a season ticket holder for Boston College Football and the Boston Celtics, and loved watching the Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox. He also loved to go fishing. Ray was the one who planned the family vacations. He would prepare and research their numerous destinations to make sure his family had memorable time together. Ray was also an incredible cook. If he enjoyed a recipe at a restaurant, he had the keen ability to decipher the ingredients and recreate the dish at home. Family members and friends always looked forward to whatever culinary creation Ray was preparing. Ray loved his family and friends and his passing leaves an empty void in the hearts of all of those he loved and cared for.
Ray was the loving husband of 25 years of Michele (Giroux) Prendergast. He was the loving father of Joseph and Laura Prendergast. He was the brother of Joyce Guelli of Waltham and brother-in-law of Richard Giroux of NC, Colette & David Nicolle of England, Suzanne Giroux & Georges Balesdent of Watertown, and Madeleine & Thomas McAuliffe of Beverly. Ray was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
