Obituary of Louis Scandone
Louis A. Scandone, a retired diesel mechanic, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday afternoon, November 23, 2015. He was 85 years old.
Louis was born in Winthrop, the son of Italian immigrants, the late Lorenzo and Laura Scandone. He grew up in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School. He enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War serving for almost 4 years with the 1610th Material Squadron at Grenier Air Force Base in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Louis was a talented diesel mechanic. He started after high school at Mecury Buick. He continued to learn in the Air Force as a mechanic and then worked the remainder of his career as diesel mechanic at Wells Fargo and Hertz. He also had a great interest in electronics and had his own workshop where he worked on radios, televisions, scopes, and other electronics. He was also an avid reader of history, educational, and motivational literature. He had made Burlington his home for the past 45 years.
Louis was the father of Laureen Pidgeon & her husband Paul of PA, Janice Ingeme & her husband Tony of Burlington, Michael Porter of FL, and Mary Roy of Billerica. Brother of Madeline DiNapoli and the late Josephine Gray, Louise Saville and Lawrence & Alfonso Scandone,. Proud grandfather of Christopher, Timothy, Joseph, Matthew, Thomas, & Michael Pidgeon, Crystal Giuva, Dylan and Connor Roy. Great grandfather of Sophia and Penelope Giuva. Funeral services were private. Memorials in Louis’s name may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Middlesex East, 607 North Ave, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880
