Obituary of Theresa Vieira

Theresa Josephine Vieira, a 52 year resident of Burlington, passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her bedside. She was 74 years old. Theresa was born in Cambridge, the daughter of the late Joseph and Olga Carreiro. She spent her childhood in Cambridge. When she was 12 years old, her family moved to Belmont. She was a 1958 graduate of Belmont High School and then attended Chandler Business School. She married Robert Vieira in 1963, settled in Burlington, and started a family. She had worked as a secretary at Honeywell for a number of years. After the birth of her children, she chose to remain home to care for her family. She was a longtime member of TOPS where she made many friendships throughout the years Theresa was a woman who was always on the go. Her main concern was her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Robert, for 52 years. They enjoyed raising their children, caring for their home, and traveling together. They had spent 25 years vacationing in Aruba, where they would pass the time on the beach, playing cribbage, dining with friends, and an occasional trip to the casino. She spent countless hours working in her garden and loved sharing her harvest with family and friends. She was extremely handy. She could paint and wallpaper. She was a talented seamstress making clothing and coats for her family. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and loved a good mystery novel. She made the most of every moment and her family is her legacy. Theresa was the beloved wife of Robert A. Vieira. She was the loving mother of Michael Vieira & his wife Mari of Streamwood, IL and Karen Haught & her husband Paul “PJ” of Billerica. Sister of Evelyn Roth of Belmont. Theresa was the proud grandmother of Courtney, Christian, & Jessica Haught all of Billerica and Ayaka Vieira of Streamwood, IL. Visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be in Belmont Cemetery, Grove St., Belmont. In lieu of flowers memorials in Theresa’s name may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
