Obituary of Lorenzo Bordini

Lorenzo Bordini, who emigrated from Italy at age 22, passed away after succumbing to his lengthy battle with vascular dementia. He was 85 years old. Lorenzo was born in Vorbano, Italy, the son of the late Ernesto and Orsolina Bordini. He grew up and was educated in Italy. After WWII he immigrated to the United States. He met Anna Dell'Aversano, who was also an Italian immigrant at the Oceanview Club at Revere Beach in 1955 and they were married in 1956. They settled in Woburn in 1964 to raise their 3 children, Ernie, Jimmy and Lisetta. Lorenzo had an incredible work ethic. He wanted to succeed in America and to be able to offer his children the many opportunities and resources he lived without in Italy. He was a machinist first working at Photon Inc. in Wilmington for 12 years, and then working at GCA in Bedford for 38 years. He was extremely talented and specialized in Environmental Sciences and Microelectronic Technology. He loved his work, its challenges, and his many coworkers who were also friends. Lorenzo was proud of his work for the Brazilian Eclipse Group and their achievements with NASA. Over the years, he also worked a second job with Woburn Custom Machines to further provide for his family. He finally retired at the age of 75. Lorenzo enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was always busy working in his garden, on his grapevine, or perfecting his Bocce court. He enjoyed hunting in his earlier years and a good game of Bocce with friends and always his wife's great Italian cooking. He was a member of the St.Anthony's Men's Club and South End Italian Club, and enthusiastic helping at Thursday night Bingo. He cherished the time spent with his family and looked forward to Sunday dinners spent with family and friends. He had many things to be proud of including 55 years of marriage, giving his children a loving home, a good education and guidance, and seeing his family grow and live the American dream. Lorenzo was the beloved and devoted husband of Anna (Dell'Aversano) Bordini. He was the loving father of Dr. Ernest Bordini & his wife Marianne of Gainesville, FL, James Bordini & his wife Dianne of Chelmsford, and Lisetta MacDonald of Burlington. He was the brother of the late Sandra Giacomini. He was the proud grandfather of Christina, Michael, Vincent, & Anthony Bordini and Amy & Brianna MacDonald. He was the brother-in-law of Sylvia Rufo of Woburn, Susan Dell'Aversano of Italy, late Paolo Dell'Aversano and late Elio Giacomini. Special friend of Frank and Mary Ramelli. He was also survived by 3 nieces and 6 nephews. He also leaves behind his friends and the caring staff at the Lexington Health Care Center. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Barbara's Church, 138 Cambridge Rd, Woburn, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday from 4-8 p.m. Entombment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
