Obituary of William Miller
William H. Miller was born in Bloomfield, NJ, the son of Norwegian immigrants. He grew up in northern New Jersey and attended Brown University on a full scholarship, earning a B.S. in electrical engineering in 1958. He then spent 3 years as a Naval Officer with tours of duty in the Mediterranean aboard the USS Turner. He married Jane M. Miller (nee Dillie) in April 1959, after meeting her at a Beacon Hill party (one he almost did not attend) a year earlier. The couple moved with the U.S. Navy to Jacksonville, FL and then Newport, RI, where they enjoyed some of the best days of their lives cruising aboard their boat on Narragansett Bay. Settling in Burlington, MA, where he lived for 52 years, Mr. Miller worked as an electrical engineer with Raytheon for his entire 35-year career. In retirement, he enjoyed his cherished hobby of building and operating model railroads, skiing, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with his grandson.
William is the beloved husband of the late Jane (Dillie). Loving father of Karen A. Miller and her husband James C. Burkhardt of Great Falls, VA, Kermit R. Miller of Nashua, NH, and Kyle C. Miller of Beaver Creek, CO. Brother of the late Robert and Walter Miller. Proud grandfather of Thor Burkhardt of Great Falls, VA
