Obituary of Neil Maguire

Neil E. Maguire, a Vinyl Record Dealer, passed away suddenly on December 25, 2015. He was 45 years old. Neil was a lifelong resident of Burlington. He grew up the youngest of 6 children in a very energetic and active family. He was a 1988 graduate of Burlington High School. Neil loved playing sports including hockey, baseball, football, soccer, and basketball whether it was organized or just with his siblings or neighborhood friends. He has continued to play NO Check Adult Hockey with his friends and even played in tournaments in Lake Placid. He also enjoyed following all the Boston Sports teams, especially the Boston Bruins. Neil was an avid golfer and was lucky enough to get a Hole-in-One! Neil was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Burlington, Post 273. Neil’s passion was memorabilia. He loved Rock and Roll and Sports souvenirs and collectibles. His favorite bans were Alice Cooper, DIO, and Kiss and he went to countless concerts during his lifetime. Going to a concert was a bit of a game for Neil. He would search out ticket brokers at the concerts and negotiate and wear them down until he would get great tickets at a fraction of the face value. He collected concert shirts, Kiss Dolls and memorabilia, and any other item or souvenir that he could resell later. He also collected baseball cards and sports memorabilia. He loved old cars especially Buick Riveria’s. He was also a Oakland Raider’s fan. He loved his dogs. He had worked for many years as a Zamboni Driver at the Burlington Ice Palace. He was devoted son and brother, helping care for both his brother and his mom. Neil was a fun and caring uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Neil lived his life in his to his own special tune, that was so unique to him and that was made him such a special son, brother, uncle, and friend. Neil was the beloved son of “Stina” (Norden) of Burlington and the late John C. Maguire. Brother of John Jr. & his wife Mary of Woburn, Steven & his wife Irena of Billerica, James of Burlington, Leo of Billerica, and Ellen Power & her husband James of Billerica. Proud uncle of John III, Ryan, Shannon, Nicole Maguire, Michelle Hamilton, James & Gwendolyn Power. Great uncle of Harlee, John IV, Lucy Jeanne, & Justin Maguire and Sophia Hamilton. Funeral services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Thursday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Neil’s name may be made to the Boston Bruins Foundation, 100 Legends Way, Boston, MA 02114.
