Obituary of Harold Wheeler
Harold Edson Wheeler died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Aberjona Nursing Home of Winchester MA on Saturday January 9, 2016. He was born to the late Arthur and Christine Wheeler on October 1, 1928 in Lexington MA. Harold Graduated from Lexington High School in 1947. He married Joan (Ignico) in 1948 and resided in New Hampshire until they moved to Burlington MA where they have lived for 60 years.
Harold was a General Contractor and owned his own business, H Wheeler Construction, until he retired in 1996. He was a good standing member of the Bricklayers Union. Harry was an Avid Hockey player, and was inducted into the Lexington Hall of Fame for Hockey in 2006. Long before he was inducted, his passion for hockey was clear when he coached many Pee Wee and Bantom hockey teams for Burlington MA. He enjoyed sports of any kind and coached many baseball and softball teams for the town as well. There was not a sport that Harry himself did not excel at.
Harold and his wife Joan spent many wonderful summers at Hampton Beach, winters in Florida and many trips to Mexico and the Caribbean islands. He was a loving father and enjoyed watching his family grow.
Harold is survived by his wife Joan and his four children, Lynda Anderson and Husband Christopher of Burlington MA, David Wheeler and late wife MaryEllen of Florida, Joia McDonald and her husband Edmund of Nashua NH, and Beth Wheeler of Tyngsboro MA. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Christopher Anderson and his wife Christine, Matthew Anderson, Justin Anderson, David Wheeler and his wife Wiriya, Duane Wheeler, Shawn Wheeler and his wife Kirsten, Erynn Holmes and her husband Michael, and Ryan Weadick. And, 4 great grandchildren, Caleb, Nathan, Xavier and Makenzie. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Stroke Foundation. His family celebrated his life at a private service.
