Obituary of John Souza

John E. “Jack” Souza, Jr., owner of Schofield’s Concrete Forms of Burlington, passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House on Thursday, January 14, 2016. The beloved companion for 19 years of Maureen Ballard, Jack would have celebrated his 65th birthday on January 20th. Jack was born in Brockton. He was the son of the late John and Anna Souza. Jack was raised and educated in Burlington and a 1970 graduate of Burlington High School. He was very involved in the family business working alongside his parents as a young child and throughout his life. Jack’s dad passed away tragically at the age of 45 so Jack took on a Leadership role in helping his mom run the company. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in keeping his family business prosperous and he had good relationship with all his customers. As a young child Jack’s family vacationed on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire. He enjoyed boating, camping and fishing. Jack owned a boat which he kept in Newburyport. Jack and Maureen spent many special times on the boat taking day trips from Newburyport. In celebration of his 50th birthday Jack and Maureen took a trip to Florida. Jack owned many classic cars which he took great pride in maintaining. He had a close relationship with his brothers, sister and their children. Jack will be remembered as a man who had a strong work ethic, enjoyed life and had great love for his family. Jack was the beloved companion for 19 years of Maureen Ballard. He was the loving brother of Jean Roberson & her husband Daniel of Tewksbury, Edward Souza & his wife Debra of Billerica & James Souza & his wife Caroline of Burlington. Step-father of Jennifer Poole of FL and Mark Poole of Andover. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 5-8 p.m. Interment in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
