Obituary of Eleanor Simone

Please follow our website for any changes that may occur due to the potential snow storm Eleanor Catherine (Carbone) Simone, a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away at the Winchester Hospital on Saturday morning, January 16, 2016. The beloved wife of the late Joseph Simone, Jr. she was 88 years old. Eleanor was born in Wilmington. She was one of two daughters born to the late Joseph and Lena Carbone. Eleanor was raised and educated in Burlington and a graduate of Burlington High School. Eleanor and Joe married and lived in the Winnmere section of Burlington. Eleanor’s husband Joe passed away at the age of 44 leaving Eleanor to raise their three daughters. She devoted her life to raising her daughters and created a home that was welcoming to all their friends. Eleanor was member of the DAV in Burlington and was a Past Commander. Eleanor played weekly bingo and enjoyed a good game of cards. Eleanor travelled extensively and visited many locations in Europe and throughout the United States. She was an active woman and you would see her walking all over town throughout Winnmere and at Birchcrest. Eleanor will be remembered as an independent woman who lived her life to the fullest. Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Simone, Jr. She was the loving mother of Theresa Simone of Woburn, Denise Shea of Woburn and the late Roseanne Simone. Sister of Joanne (Carbone) Margi of Burlington. Grandmother of Sherry Skehan & her husband Greg of Burlington, Charles Shea, Jr. & his companion other Kristen Cadorette of Dracut and Joseph Shea of Chelmsford. Great grandmother of Marissa, Gregory Jr. & Christopher Skehan. Aunt of Jolie Grow & her husband Andy of Templeton & Elaine Sherwood Fisher of Burlington. Great aunt of Connor & Tyler Fisher and Brady Grow. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.
