Obituary of Ruth Bell
Ruth J. (Spivack) passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, with her son Roger, his wife Terri and her grandaughter, Jennifer Riley by her side, on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. She was 96 years old.
Ruth was born in Manhattan, New York. She was the youngest of four children born to the late Louis and Molly Spivack. She was raised and educated in Manhattan. Ruth and her husband Jim moved to Coventry, CT in 1952 where they would raise their two children. She worked as a Sales Clerk at G Fox in Hartford retiring after many years of service. Ruth was a woman who enjoyed her life and loved to be in the company of friends. She loved to dance and had a wonderful time dancing at the wedding reception of Roger and Terri. She had a wonderful relationship with her son Roger. Before moving to Burlington Roger would take weekly trips to Coventry to care for his mom. He also made sure his mom attended all the Rotary Senior Valentine Day Dances that were held just around the time of her birthday in February. As her health began to decline Ruth moved to Burlington in 2012 to live with Roger and Terri. Ruth was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives and spent many special times with them. She was blessed to see the birth of her three great grandchildren.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late James Louis Bell. Loving mother of Roger Bell & his wife Teresa of Burlington and the late Constance Samoulis & her late husband John. Proud grandmother of Jennifer Bell Riley & her husband Bryan of Tyngsborough, Debrah Bell Dunner & her husband Eric of Potomac, MD, Andrew Samoulis of Newtown, CT, Erik Crimmins of Marlborough and Jonathan Crimmins of Waltham. Great grandmother of William & Jacob Riley and Alexander Dunner. Ruth was predeceased by 3 siblings.
Funeral Services will be held at the Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Turnpike, Coventry, CT on Monday, January 25 at 1 p.m. Followed by Burial in Center Cemetery, Coventry, CT. Ruth’s family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Roger & Teresa Bell, 18 Lisa St., Burlington on Tuesday, Jan. 26, Wednesday, Jan. 27 and Thursday, Jan. 28 from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to the VNA of Middlesex East – Reference Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 607 North Avenue, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
