Obituary of George Gaudet

George L. Gaudet, retired owner of George Gaudet Oil Burner Service, passed away at the E. N. Rogers Memorial Veteran Hospital on Friday evening, February 10, 2012, he was 87 years old. George was born, raised and educated in Woburn. He was one of 12 children born to the late Joseph and Bertha Gaudet. He was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the United States Navy. George was the recipient of The Philippine-Liberation Medal (1 Star), World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, European African Middle-Eastern Medal, Theatre Medal (1 Star) and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal (3 Stars). George and his wife Joan married and remained living in Woburn where they raised their 5 children. After leaving the service he opened his own business George Gaudet Oil Burner Service in Woburn. George’s life was all about his family and his faith. He was an active member of the Church of the Open Bible in Burlington . He was a Deacon and very also very involved in the Youth Ministry. He was also a member of the Choir which he loved and he sang both solos and duets. He loved his children and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. George and his wife Joan would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in April. George was the beloved husband of Joan M. (Raftery). Loving father of Linda Rorrer & her husband Thomas of VA, Rev. Richard Gaudet & his wife Beverly of Austria, Janice Leland & her husband Frederick of Acton, ME, Robert Gaudet & his wife Cheryl of North Reading, and Karen Helgerson & her husband Daniel of McMinnville, OR. Sister of Janet Pandolph of NH, Robert Gaudet of CA, Eleanor Vacon of Canada and the late Agnes Thibodeau, Rita Haverty, Eva Vacon, Eugene, Edward, Albert, Leo & Arthur Gaudet. Also survived by 14 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Memorials in George’s name may be made to the Open Bible Academy, 3 Winn St., Burlington, MA 01803.
