Obituary of Cindy Ann Dubois
Cindy Ann Dubois passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at her home with her mother by her side, on Wednesday evening, May 25, 2016. She was 57 years old.
Cindy was born in Biddeford, Maine. She was raised in Burlington and was the daughter of Phyllis (Meader) and the late Arthur Dubois who had just passed away on April 24th. Cindy was born with Spina Bifidia but she did not let this challenge get in the way of achieving her goals in education. She was a 1976 graduate of Burlington High School. Cindy received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Regis College. She had a passion for knowledge and continued her education receiving her Masters Degree in Special Education from Regis College and another Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Tufts University.
Cindy has a very close and special relationship with her parents. They traveled together and visited Disney on many occasions as well as Bermuda. Cindy loved to read. Her Mom and Dad would drop her off every Friday to Barnes and Noble where she would spend time reading in the Café and meeting new friends. Cindy’s greatest joy was her job at Marshall Simonds Middle School. She started at Marshall Simonds as a Substitute Teacher in 1982, then became a Special Education Teacher with her current job as a Guidance Counselor. She had many friendships at Marshall Simonds which was evident during her illness when she received so many well wishes and visitors from her friends there. Cindy will be remembered as a woman who did not let her challenges define her and a woman who made a difference in the lives of children in the community of Burlington.
Cindy was the Beloved and devoted daughter of Phyllis (Meader) Dubois and the late Arthur E. Dubois of Burlington. Loving friend of Paula (Piper) & Martin Merva of Burlington. Niece of Joyce Milletto of ME. Cousin of Debra Getchell of ME. Cindy is also survived by her extended family at Marshall Simonds Middle School where she worked for many years.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington on Wednesday, June 1st at 2:30 p.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in Cindy’s name may be made to the Cindy Ann Dubois Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Northern Bank & Trust, 13 Center St., Burlington, MA 01803
