Obituary of Anthony S. Buscemi

Anthony S. Buscemi, a man devoted to his family, his faith, and his country, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Friday afternoon, July 15, 2016. He was 81 years old. Tonywas the beloved husband of 54 years of Jane (Dismukes) Buscemi. Tony was born, raised, and educated in Waltham. He was the youngest of six children born to Italian immigrants, the late Salvatore and Antonina Buscemi. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 until 1957. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. Tony was extremely proud of his service to his country and most especially of being a Marine. Throughout his life he participated in events and parades related to the Marines with the “Toy’s for Tot’s” annual drive being one event that he took great pride in being involved in. Tony and Jane moved to Burlington in 1968 to raise their four children. They were active in the community and as members of St. Margaret’s Church. Tony could be seen every Sunday morning at the 7:30 a.m. mass. He worked very hard to provide for his family often working two jobs. Tony was an Engineer at Raytheon in Waltham as well as working part-time for Star market. He took incredible pride in his vegetable garden. During the spring and summer months he would spend from dawn to dusk working on his garden. He considered him fortunate to live in a wonderful neighborhood. In the winter months, he would be seen “shoveling out” his neighbors from one of the many snow storms! Tony was a quiet man, but not one to sit idle. He was a “handy man” and there wasn’t a project that he wouldn’t tackle whether it was plumbing, wallpapering, or even installing hardwood floors in his daughter's home! He loved to share this knowledge with his children. Tony was a regular at the Dunkin Donuts on Cambridge Street in Burlington. He could be seen there daily at 8:30 a.m. chatting and solving all the problems of the world with his “Dunkin buddies”. Tony and Jane preferred staying close to home with their family. But, they did enjoy visiting their daughter in Memphis and taking a memorable trip to Ireland with their neighbors, the Callahan’s. Tony was very proud of his children and all of their accomplishments. He will be remembered as a quiet and hardworking man, but also as a man who was devoted to his faith, his country, community and most importantly, his family. Tony was the beloved husband of 54 years of Jane (Dismukes). He was the loving father of Mark & his wife Tricia of Billerica, Michael & his wife Celeste of Arlington, Carol Noyes & her husband Craig of Tewksbury and Nancy Hummel & her husband Doug of Memphis, TN. Tony was the proud grandfather of Katelyn Noyes Pacini, Christopher Noyes, Emily & Sydney Hummel, Sara, Michelle, Anthony, Kayleen and the late Christopher Buscemi. He was the great grandfather of Aiden and Madison Pacini. He was the brother of Rose Taranto & her late husband Tom of Framingham, Gertrude Sottile & her late husband Nicholas of Sudbury and the late Frances Santangelo & her late husband Raymond , Raymond Buscemi, Regina Nardone and Luigi Buscemi. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, July 21 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, BURLINGTON.
