Obituary of John F. Rezendes

John F. Rezendes, a dispatcher for BCM Controls passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 21, 2016. He was 48 years old. John was born in Cambridge and grew up in Burlington. He had a warm and welcoming persona and simply enjoyed being with people. He had a strong work ethic that started at age 16 when he took his first job at Market Basket. He worked there throughout high school and college as a front end supervisor. John learned how to work with others, appreciate others talents, and the importance of treating customers and coworkers like family. As an example, Bruins Great, Terry O’Reilly, was a regular customer at Market Basket, and John, being a huge sports fan, started up a friendship that lasted years. After graduating from Burlington High School in 1986 and then Merrimack College with a BS in Business, John went to work as a dispatcher/supervisor for Comtrac, CTC Communications, One Communications, and Earthlink Business. He had currently been working as a Security Service Dispatcher at BCM Controls. In all his positions, he always enjoyed working with his clients and the comradery shared with his coworkers. Sports were a very important part of John’s life. As a youngster, he played Pop Warner Football and Little League Baseball. As an adult, he played softball for 12 years in the Burlington Recreation Softball League. He played with his late brother, Michael, his uncle, cousin, and many of his friends and their team name was “The Hackers”. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the St. Ann’s, Krazy Couples, Friday night bowling league at Metro Bowl, in Peabody, St Ann’s Monday night league, and the Malden Ryan Family Amusement League on Tuesday night. Over the years he played ice, floor, and street hockey. He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes and motorcycles. He was an over the top football fan and was in 3 fantasy leagues. The Patriots were of course his favorite team, but he was a walking Wikipedia of football. He knew every player, their stats, and all their injury reports. Sundays were spent with his friends watching football all day with his laptop running so he could constantly keep track of his numerous Fantasy Football Teams. John was all about his family. He was a devoted and loving son. He was so appreciative to his parents for their love and support throughout his entire life. He was a loving brother to his sister, Susan and he was the fun uncle to his niece and 3 nephews. He enjoyed family vacations spent at The Cove Resort in Yarmouth for the past 31 years. John and his brother Michael, who passed away in a motorcycle accident 3 years ago, were brothers and best friends. They shared their love of sports, friendships, and had each other’s back. John was also close with all his extended family as well. He helped his aunts and uncles and had strong bond with his cousins whom he saw often. And then there were all John’s friends from high school, college, work, and sports who loved his easy going disposition. John was the loving son of John R. and Maureen (Sullivan) Rezendes of Burlington. He was the brother of Susan Copanos of Natick and late Michael Rezendes. He was the brother-in-law of John Copanos of Natick and Michelle Rezendes of Billerica. He was the proud uncle of Madison & Matthew Rezendes and John & Michael Copanos. He was the nephew of Peggy Dorsey of Cambridge & her late husband Stephen, Lester & Mary Sullivan of Burlington, and Ernestine LeBlanc of Burlington. He was the Cousin of Lisa DiFava, Lester Sullivan, and Elizabeth Rego. John is also survived by his beloved Kristen D’Apolito of Saugus, and his many friends. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Monday, Nov. 29 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
