Condolences to the Mayo family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family. Psalms 147:3 says God, "heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds." May God bring you comfort and peace.

Dear Mayo Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. My father also worked at Raytheon Power Tube Division in Waltham. What a coincidence! They probably knew each other. After reading about Al, he sounded like a wonderful man, reminded me of my Dad. Thinking of you all, Love, Joyce Cahill

It is with unbelievable sadness that I heard of the passing of Mr. Mayo. I had the privilege of living on the other side of the street from him and his wife and children. They had such a close relationship with my parents that they were like brother and sister. There wasn't a time when if my father asked for help that he wasn't aided. They set the standard for being neighbors that has not been EVER matched. Not even close. I had thoughts of making up a little trophy with the title "Worlds Best Neighbors", but alas, life was too busy. I often can recall my father and Mr. Mayo working on each others cars and borrowing tools. I never knew ironically that they both served in WWII in the Army Air Corps.
I recall always seeing him driving to Mass at St. Malachy's for the 4 PM Mass. He was a great example of a faithful Catholic.
Later in life (2004 onward) I remember seeing Mr. Mayo working on his yard. He would always stop and we would talk for a couple minutes. He would usually give me updates on his children and their families and ask about mine. He was extremely proud of all his children's families, and it showed. I always commented on how well he was doing, and said I hoped I do as well.
My sincere condolences to Mrs. Mayo and all his children and their families.
May the divine assistance remain always with us. Amen. And may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Let me tell you something about my father in law:
He adored all of his family. He raised the greatest 4 boys.
He loved his garden , even when the animals ate a lot of it. His strawberries and zucchini were the best.
He loved blueberry anything, especially blueberry pie.
He would spend hours reading National Geographic and watching the History Channel. He was so smart.
He could fix anything from cars to dishwashers. It was a big help to us. Any time, night or day, he was there.
He never had a fish dinner he didn't thoroughly enjoy.
He was always made us laugh asking for the winning lottery ticket.
He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.
We will miss him, but he will always with us in our thoughts and memories. God Bless Al.
