Dear Karen, Pia and David,
I am so sorry to learn of your loss. I rented the "garden apartment" from your mom when I first moved to Cape Cod, so many years ago. I remember her as a very kind and patient woman. I enjoyed our many conversations. Each time I drive along Pine Street in Centerville I think of her. I know she was a loving mother to you. May she rest in peace and may your memories bring you comfort.
With my sincere sympathy to your family. Nancy

We are so sad to hear of Claire's death. She was one of the "original chair ladies" at Craigville Beach and my sisters and I loved watching their beautiful friendships flourish. My son learned to swim under the guidance of Nib and we enjoyed reminiscing with her about Nib. We were present when they placed the plaque on the center tower, at CBA, in his honor. Claire was a positive, upbeat, lovely woman who will be missed by all. My condolences to her wonderful children. They seemed to take such good care of her, insuring that she made it to CBA for her annual visit. We will miss seeing her with Pia, David & Karen. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all! Lee Healy

Karen, Pia, David, and your entire family.
I am saddened to hear of Claire's passing. She was truly a remarkable woman with whom I shared many memories, both happy and sad. She was a renaissance woman, well informed on a range of subjects and anxious to share how she felt on various issues. Loved her expression "Oh My". She talked extensively about the pride she had in her children, in laws, and grandchildren and you made her proud.
I am in Florida, but want you to know Claire is in my thoughts and prayers. She impacted my life in many ways and will be missed! May she rest peacefully with Ned.

Dear Karen, Pia, & David, I had the pleasure of working with your wonderful Mom, Claire during the late 70s and through the 80s at Mass Rehab in Hyannis. Many wonderful memories swiftly moved through my mind as I recalled those 'days of yore' . Your mother was a wonderful support to me and all the members of our Team. We went through many challenges together as we went through several moves of the office, major changes in regulations and procedures....not to speak of 'hiring freezes,' budget cuts and so many personnel changes.. Your Mom was right there with her own personal kind of determination and humor to make sure everyone was cared for. I know that each of you as well as the many friends she made throughout her life have your own special memories of this great woman.
I can only say that I also have mine, for which I am so grateful.
Thinking of you all during this special time in your lives.
With Love and Prayers, Joe B.

I am sure the Poet Walt Whitman would not mind my excerpt/adaptation of his poem for Claire.
When lilacs last in the dooryard bloom’d,
And the great star early droop’d in the western sky in the night,
I mourn’d, and yet shall mourn with ever-returning spring.
Ever-returning spring, trinity sure to me you bring,
Lilac blooming perennial and drooping star in the west,
And thought of [Claire's] love.
To Claire's Family,
My heartfelt condolences. May your memories surround you like a warm summer breeze on a sunny Cape day. I feel so fortunate to have known and become friends with Claire in this chapter of her life. Claire and I had an jocular agreement that should I be arrested for trespassing onto someone's property to pilfer a bouquet of Lilacs to bring to her for her birthday that she would bail me out. You know she would!
Sent with love and remembrance,
Mary Baum

I feel honored to have known Claire in this chapter of her life and to become friends. Claire will always hold a special place in my heart. I would bring her a bouquet of Lilac's for her birthday as she loved them. It was jocular between us as she knew I trespassed onto someone's property to pilfer the Lilacs and she readily admitted having done the same. I joked that she may need to bail me out if I were to be arrested. You know, she would!
Thinking of you,
Mary

Dear Pia, Karen and David,
I was so saddened by the news of the passing of your Mom. I consider
it an honor to have cared for her. She was a delightful lady. I remember
how she sought me out when my husband passed away to remind me that
I was under a lot of stress and needed to take care of myself. She was a
"mother" to many of us at Concord Park. I will miss her tremendously.
Sincerely, Helen
