Obituary of Claire Cronin Young
Claire Cronin Young passed away on March 5, 2017 in Concord, MA at the age of 92. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday March 10, 2017 at First Parish Church, Rte 117, 353 Great Rd, Stow, MA 01775. A celebration of her life will follow immediately after the service at the church. Burial will be a private ceremony on Cape Cod.
Claire was born to Marie and William Cronin and raised with her sisters, Irene and Marie, in Chelsea, MA. She attended Our Lady of Grace School and Boston College where she graduated with a degree in English. She married Norbert E. Young of Medford, MA and raised a family while making beautiful homes in New York, Maine, Missouri, California and lastly - what became her favorite home – on Cape Cod. She loved her career as a manager for the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission where she helped physically challenged people seek employment and was named Employee of the Year in 1981. She proudly boasted to being a 50 year member at Craigville Beach Association in Centerville, MA and could be found devouring a hot fudge sundae in the booths at Four Seas Ice Cream with her grandchildren every summer. She valued her many wonderful friendships and her dedicated health care team. She loved living in Concord Park Assisted Living where she considered friends and staff to be her family.
She is preceded in death by her loving son, Ned Young. Devoted mother to Karen Young and her husband Joe Mario of Westford, MA; Pia Young of Hingham, MA; and David T. Young and his wife Jennifer of Natick, MA. She lives on through her four grandchildren – Courtney and Christopher Mario; Ryan and Georgia Young; and one grand dog, Baloo Rufus Young.
