Obituary of Ruth Brooks

Ruth E. Brooks of Burlington, an Administrative Executive at Instrumentation Laboratory, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. She was 68 years old. Ruthie was born, raised, and educated in Malden. She was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Sweeney. During her 40-year career at Instrumentation Laboratory, she raised her daughter, Diana, cared for her mother, and brought joy and laughter to those around her. Ruthie was also an advocate for saving Greyhounds and was passionate for this cause, providing a loving home to a succession of rescued dogs. She also enjoyed gardening, aerobics, spinning, reading, and taking trips to the beach. Ruthie will be lovingly remembered for her humor, warmth, generosity, and bakery treats. Ruthie was the proud mother of Diana Rogers of Scotts Valley, CA and loving sister of Judy Anderson of Amesbury, MA and the late Norman Sweeney formerly of Everett, MA. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, May 14 from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. Internment will take place at Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15.
