Obituary of Patricia Ann Martorano
Patricia Ann (Carr) Martorano, passed away at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, on Saturday afternoon, September 1, 2018. The beloved wife of the late Samuel P. Martorano, who passed away 4 years prior on the same date, Sept. 1, 2014, she was 75 years old.
Pat was born in Boston. She was raised and educated in Charlestown and East Boston. Pat was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in East Boston. She then went on to graduate from Burdett School of Business.
It was while working at Massachusetts General Hospital that Pat would meet her future husband Samuel Martorano, who was also employed at Mass General. They married in August of 1967. They lived in Somerville for a period of time before moving to Woburn and ultimately Burlington in 1978 where they would raise their two children Lee and Stephen. Together they became active and engaged members of the community of Burlington.
Pat worked as an Executive Assistant for Private Healthcare Systems in Waltham for over 20 years. After her retirement Pat volunteered at the Burlington Recreation Department. She was very involved in the implementation and success of Celebrate Burlington and received awards for her involvement and fund raising efforts. Pat was passionate about the community of Burlington. In addition to years of being politically active and a friendly face as folks entered the polls on voting day, she also proudly represented her neighbors as their Town Meeting Representative in Precinct 4 for many years.
Pat was a loving and supportive mom who was always there for her children Lee and Stephen. Classmates remember Mrs. Martorano as the ski bus chaperone who was such a nice lady until it was time to be less nice and then the strict nature of her parochial school upbringing would not tolerate back of the bus shenanigans. She was a passionate and playful grandmother to her three grandchildren Kaitlyn, Liliana and Sorley. Nothing gave Pat more joy than to spend time with her children and her grandchildren.
Pat and her husband Sam had a wonderful 47 year marriage. They traveled as often as possible visiting such destinations as Bermuda, St. Croix, Italy and Canada as well as New Jersey, New Hampshire, Florida and California. They traveled as a family, with close friends and sometimes just the two of them together. Pat will always be remembered as a woman devoted to her family and one who worked to make a difference in the community where she lived.
Pat was the beloved wife of the late Samuel P. Loving mother of Lee Martorano of Woburn and Stephen Martorano & his wife Sarah of Melrose formerly of Somerville. Proud grandmother of Kaitlyn Mulford and Liliana & Sorley Martorano. Sister of Betty Whitcomb & her husband Paul of NH, Carol Farren of Billerica, Denise DeRamus of AL & the late Paul Carr.
