Obituary of Frederick Hall

Frederick Hugh Hall, a retired Contract Work Inspector for Verizon, passed away at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, on Monday, July 29, 2012. The beloved husband of 55 years of Elizabeth M. (Kneeland) he was 82 years old. Fred was born and raised in Cambridge. He was the son of the late William and Mary Hall. At the age of 17 Fred enlisted in the United States Army. He was a veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the Occupation Medal MTO. Fred had a 40 year career with the telephone company working as a Line Inspector and Contract Work Inspector. He retired from Verizon. Fred and Betty settled in Burlington in 1960 where they raised their six children. Fred was a true family man who took pride in all his children’s accomplishments. He loved spending time with his wife Betty as they traveled the Eastern United States and Canada in their R.V. and ultimately spending their winters in Florida playing golf together. For the past 21 years Fred thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his ten beautiful grandchildren grow up and blossom. He was a devout Catholic and passed this special gift to his children. His cheerful disposition and love of life and his family will be sorely missed. Fred was the beloved husband of Elizabeth M. (Kneeland). He was the loving father of Frederick of Odenton, MD, Michael of Boston, James & his wife Barbara of Amherst, NH, Cheryl Herlihy & her husband Michael of Burlington, John & his wife Eileen of Derry, NH and Susan of Tewksbury. Brother of Edward of Lexington, Margaret Coogan of Waltham, and William of Queeche, VT. Devoted and proud grandfather of Caroline, Mary Jo & Keith Herlihy, Catherine, Ryan, Sean & Matthew Hall, and Elizabeth, Jerrilyn & John Rufo. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Aug. 3 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
